Gingin was Church was opened on the 14th June 1931 and dedicated to St Catherine of Siena, a large painting of whom is displayed above the altar creating a beautiful centre piece in the Church.

Prior to the opening of the Church at Gingin the Catholic community of the parish was serviced by the Benedictines Community of New Norcia, with mass being celebrated only once a month.

Towards the end of the 1990’s the Church was closed and threatened with demolition due to disrepair. At this time mass took place in the shed at the side of the Church.

With the arrival of Father Paul Fox the outlook for St Catherine’s quickly took a turn for the better. Thanks to the enthusiasm and commitment of parishioners and the drive of Father Paul work began to renovate the Church. The renovation included the restoration of the painting of St Catherine of Siena.

On the 17th June 2001, the Feast of Christ the King,  the Church was reopened by Archbishop Hickey. A procession was held around the streets of Gingin before mass and the Church blessing .
